I bought this grip for my Nikon D850 because I like huge cameras (big hands) and the additional battery power. I was surprised to find that the ENEL-18 battery also improved auto focus speed. I knew it would increase frames per second, the increase in auto focus speed was just very welcome surprise bonus.
I thought I had received a bad unit because I was unable to assign the function button and the control wheel on the grip to two separate functions. I emailed support and they sent out a replacement grip immediately. After trying every possible combination of grips and batteries I finally got in touch with someone at Nikon in Japan who told me the D850 did not allow for setting two functions at once on the grip. It is either the function button or control wheel, but not both. I asked if that could be addressed in a future firmware update and he said in the usual, polite, roundabout way "No".
On the other hand, with that limitation in mind the grip fits perfectly, looks as good as the genuine Nikon grip at a fraction of a fraction of the price, and it just works. I have shot a couple of thousand images with it so far and I have had zero issues with it.
I think it a terrific grip at a terrific price and backed by a company that actually cares and goes the extra mile. I know for a fact I will be ordering some batteries and other things from them soon.
